began with a God-sized vision and a step of faith from an ordinary guy in Minnesota. Three years ago, Keith Carpenter (now lead pastor for Epic) found himself in full-time ministry as a college pastor for a church in Winona, MN, loving every minute of it. He couldn't have imagined leaving until a series of God-inspired events led him to consider something impossible: the idea of planting a church. In a yearly meeting with his head pastor, Keith was asked what the next step for his life was. Keith couldn't really think of anything, he loved ministering to college students so much. Shortly thereafter, Keith had a dream. In the dream, he went through a town with a team of people dedicated to sharing the message of Christ. Keith was able to speak with elderly, homeless, and a young woman, explaining how Jesus forfeited his Deity by entering this world in human flesh to become like humans. He spoke of how Christ gave His life as a sacrifice to forgive sin in order that men and women could experience the beauty of a reconciled relationship with God. After hearing the epic gospel story, the woman pleaded with Keith to come back and share the story with her father, a man of influence in the community. Keith went to the house with the team the next night and in front of a packed house explained the redemptive story of Jesus Christ again. The entire town (which he didn't even recognize) was transformed as Jesus Christ came to into people's lives, healing them of sin, brokenness, and hopelessness. As things continued, Keith began to slowly consider that God might be calling him away from his life as a college pastor into a new place, a new city, a new form of ministry, the starting of a church...

God continued to confirm Keith's calling to move through many circumstances and many men in his home church. Keith fasted and prayed and the calling got stronger, and he asked a group of individuals to come with him. Knowing next to nothing about church planting, Keith and the others began the research process through books, conversations, and conferences and as Keith began to pray about where to go, the Northwest and Seattle became evident as a place for a number of reasons. The idea of average Midwestern people moving to a big city to help start a church was daunting, and even still, not a single team member would testify to anything they have done by themselves to make this happen. It is all a testimony to God's power, God's leading, and God's sustaining. In July of 2008, half of the team packed up two big Penske vans and headed across the country for the Emerald City, to be joined later by the remaining members. They have witnessed God's provision and miracles in countless ways. Any one of them would love to sit down and tell the story of God's power, provision, and hope in their own lives, and the amazing things God is doing along the Aurora Corridor.

Our vision is for North Seattle to be transformed by finding an epic life in Jesus Christ.

Epic Life Vision

Epic Life Church exists to create opportunities for people to experience the full life that comes through a relationship with Jesus Christ. We do this by gathering together as a Body, forming intentional relationships in Christ-centered communities, and loving and serving others.

Epic Life Mission

The Bible is the inspired, inerrant and authoritative Word of God for Christian faith and living.

That there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

In the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His vicarious and atoning death, His bodily resurrection, His ascension to the right hand of the Father and His personal return in power and glory.

In the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling every Christian is able to live a godly life.

That all people are lost sinners and must turn to Christ in saving faith and repentance for regeneration by the Holy Spirit.

In the resurrection of both those who believe in Jesus and those who do not believe: those believing to eternal life with Christ and those unbelieving to eternal punishment in hell.

She blesses those around her by being very quick to listen, to help… and to make a batch of cookies.

David Vicchiollo

What David lacks in height, he makes up for in passion! David grew up in Appleton, Wisconsin and attended college in Winona, MN where his life was radically changed by Jesus Christ. Anyone who knows him will testify of his passion for life! David loves doing things that scare him, dancing like a fool, being a guy, writing and playing music, and couldn’t survive without ice cream. A firm belief in the importance of unity in the body of Christ drives David’s desire to be a worship leader, and he challenges others to pursue Godly unity and sacrificial love at whatever personal the cost. David believes strongly in celebrating Christ's victory over sin, death, and the power of the devil through song. If you have any musical interests, he would love to talk to you about them!

Averi Norgaard

After being raised in a town with only 500 residents (Melrose, Wisconsin), Averi is so excited for the "big city" opportunities in Seattle! Averi graduated from Winona State University in the Spring of 2007 with a degree in Mass Communication: Photojournalism. Averi loves capturing “pieces of life” with her camera that reflect God’s beauty. She photographed her favorite picture while traveling on a mission trip to Malaysia: a six-year-old girl holding and taking care of her younger brother who is staring off, wide-eyed and innocent, yet so understanding of the world. She is self-described as horrible at self-definition and is incredibly indecisive. Averi is an amazing hostess and loves taking care of people. One of her deepest desires is to help people press into the Lord to fully receive what He has to offer.
